Senior Post-Doc and Medical Physicist at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna
I am Barbara Knäusl, Senior-Post Doc at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna. Since 2012 I have been working as a researcher in the field of photons, protons and carbon ions. With my in-depth clinical experience as medical physicist at MedAustron and my current clinical responsibilities at the Medical University of Vienna, I gained major knowledge in implementing novel technologies and clinical treatment strategies for precision photon- as well as particle therapy. Within PAIR I am acting as deputy coordinator including teaching and the supervision of the PhD project „Dosimetric aspects of image-guided pre-clinical ion beam research“.
Dosimetric accuracy, image guidance, dose calculation and establishing a workflow for high-precision small animal irradiation with x-rays, protons and carbon ions are my scientific responsibilities within the PAIR project. Being part of such an interdisciplinary project enhances my research activities and provides the possibility to explore new scientific territory to correlate dose and linear energy transfer with quantitative imaging and biological parameters.
